Paramedic Assaulted on West Side
Wednesday July 29 2009 - 19:25:55

An Austin neighborhood man was arrested and charged after he allegedly hit a paramedic in the face with a bottle Tuesday night on the West Side.

Dimitrios Rush, 41, of the 5200 block of West Harrison Street, was charged with aggravated battery to a paramedic, a felony, according to police who said Rush was arrested at 7:15 p.m. on the 340 block of South Pulaski Road.

Police officers were driving by and were flagged down by a male paramedic assigned to Chicago Fire Department ambulance No. 23 who said Rush allegedly hit him in the face with a bottle, according to police.

It was not known what prompted the alleged attack or how badly injured the paramedic was. Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
